Looking for an engaging author visit?

For 1st and 2nd graders, I typically talk about the Emily and Sam series. Using a little magic combined with student interaction, we discuss how math is more than numbers. It is all around us, in nature, animals, weather, and even the stars! I always leave plenty of time for the students to ask questions (my favorite part). 

For 3rd - 6th graders, I talk about The Math Kids series. I combine magic and student interaction to discuss the "magic" behind mathematics. The students will help me to create math "aha" moments using a simple strip of paper. I've also been known to produce bookmarks out of a ball of fire. There will be lots of time for questions from the students.
